Wheatland
Wheatland County is a diverse region embracing large industrial on the eastern edge of Calgary, rural farming, renewable energy, commuter communities for Calgary, to the arts and theatre community of Rosebud. The town of Strathmore is the main trading hub for the county and has a population of 16,000. The population of rural Wheatland County is over 8,700, with the population concentrated in the communities of Carseland, Gleichen, Speargrass, and Lyalta. The future population growth will be clustered in these communities.
On average, 350 homes sell per year in Strathmore with the rest of Wheatland county having approximately 100 residences sell. About 40 parcels of land sell via MLS per year within the county. Strathmore real estate is generally a little less expensive than Calgary and the town is only a 40 min drive to YYC (Calgary International Airport).
